The Addiction Science Award is given by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health, and the Friends of NIDA, (a group that supports NIDA's mission) to three exemplary projects on the topic of addiction science.
Why We Participate: 
Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disease that affects brain function and behavior, and encompasses a broad spectrum of science, from neuroscience to behavioral research. It is also a treatable disease. The Addiction Science Awards encourage young people to pursue an area of science that can advance the prevention and treatment of drug addiction, with a focus on innovative approaches.
