Giving thanks to our Society alumni family

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and give thanks for families, success, and even our challenges.

We at the Society are thankful for the contributions our distinguished alumni have made in their respective fields as well as the recognitions they have received. Something else we are grateful for: alumni who have had such positive experiences competing in the Science Talent Search, Intel...

Nobel Laureates, Society alumni of all years gather at Alumni Conference

"Science is often thought of as a lonely profession," observed Nobel Laureate and Westinghouse STS alum Walter Gilbert at the Society's first ever alumni conference. "But it's actually a very social thing. We feel a social involvement to develop things for the benefit of others and other scientists."

Science: It's all in the family

Science is a family affair for the Dells. George (Fritz) Dell was a Science Talent Search finalist in 1949, and his daughter Kristi (Dell) Snell was a finalist in 1985. Kristi and her brother grew up watching their dad George conduct physics research at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, where their mother also worked. Kristi also interned in the lab's biology department while she was in high...
