Society Research Teachers Conference

September 30 - October 2, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

The lottery to enter the Society Research Teachers Conference is now closed. Please email with any questions. If you'd like to be alerted when the lottery for next year's event opens, please sign up here

Society for Science & the Public would like to invite science research teachers at all levels of experience to gather in Washington, D.C. for a weekend to share best practices, troubleshoot any challenges they face in supporting students in independent science research, and learn more about the Science Talent Search and the Society.

The conference topics will be split up in large group sessions and break-out sessions, and will include completing research in a high school lab, finding and placing students in summer programs, obtaining pre-approval for projects relating to humans and animals, combating plagiarism, reaching underserved students, and more.

Two hundred teachers will be selected to attend via lottery — one third will be veteran teachers who have significant experience with Regeneron STS, one third will be teachers who have some experience with Regeneron STS, and one third will be teachers who do not have experience with Regeneron STS, but would like to begin supporting students in entering the competition. Only one teacher per school will be selected, unless additional spots are available.  Invitations are non-transferable. If a participant can't attend after being initially selected, the slot will be filled by lottery. Teachers selected will submit documentation showing evidence of their intent to attend.  There is a limit of 10 entries per school.

Expenses for travel, lodging and meals will be covered by the Society for all attendees.

Submissions will be accepted until August 10, 2016 and selections will be announced August 17, 2016.
