STS for Educators

The Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) is rewarding more students and teachers than ever for taking on the challenge of bringing true science inquiry and engineering solutions to life through research at the high school level.

Get your students started in research and encourage them to enter Regeneron STS!  If you're just starting out, you don't have to do it alone.  The Society is always here to help, as well as all the teachers who have run research programs for many years and love to pass on advice.

What is Regeneron STS?

The Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS), a program of Society for Science & the Public since 1942, is the nation’s most prestigious science competition for high school seniors.  Students complete independent science and engineering research projects and submit a written research report, essay questions, transcripts, and test scores to Regeneron STS.  The judges are looking for students who show the greatest potential as future scientific leaders.  They believe that an individual can excel in any number of ways, and therefore there are no cutoffs for GPA, test scores, or any other factor. To receive information about the Regeneron STS, please sign up here.

What incentives are there for my students to enter?

All eligible entrants receive a free t-shirt and laptop sticker to recognize their dedication to science research. Each year 300 Regeneron STS scholars and their schools are recognized, earning $2,000 each. From that select pool of scholars, 40 student finalists are invited to Washington, DC in March to participate in final judging, display their work to the public, meet with notable scientists, and compete for the top awards.

Let us jump-start your student research efforts with materials on the Regeneron Science Talent Search!

Learn the reasons some submitted applications fail to qualify for Regeneron STS

Every year, all Regeneron STS applications are checked for eligibility and rules violations prior to being passed on to the judges.  Rules and eligibility requirements can be found in the Rules and Entry Instructions on the Rules, Forms, and Resources webpage.
